EMPLOYER DESCRIPTION: This employer is a multi-disciplinary health care clinic that offers services such as; general physio, remedial massage and preventative occupational health. You would be assisting (and observing) the highly qualified and experienced health care professionals; including physiotherapists, massage therapists and preventative occupational health consultants.
Students must be undertaking VETiS in Allied Health Assistance
ATTENDANCE DETAILS: One week block. Available during the Sept/Oct school holiday period only.
TASK & DUTIES: Students will be observing and assisting physiotherapists at the practice. This will include preparing the consulting room, rehabilitation room and gym, general administration, assisting with the design of exercise classes, monitoring client's progress and other duties as directed by the physios.
REQUIREMENTS: Students must be undertaking a VETiS program in allied health and have a keen interest in physiotherapy work. Students must be well presented and able to interact with staff and clients.
SKILLS ATTAINED: Students would be developing and furthering their skills in complying with infection control policies and procedures, maintaining a high standard of client services, working within a healthcare environment, observing client interaction and group sessions and applying the principles of confidentiality, privacy, security within a medical environment.
DRESS REQUIREMENTS: Students must wear smart casual clothes and comfortable shoes
FIRST DAY INSTRUCTIONS: Students needs to arrive early, ask for the manager and be prepared to undertake safety induction
WORK SAFETY NOTES: Students need to have started the OHS (WHS) unit from their VET in Schools course of study at a minimum. Students must follow all worksite OHS instructions and wear correct PPE as appropriate.
