EMPLOYER DESCRIPTION:  This employer has an opportunity for a student who is interested in the automotive industry but is not looking to work in a mechanic workshop. This business is the largest reseller and supplier in the automotive parts and accessories aftermarket. It has a huge range of all things automotive and over 175,000 parts available. You must have a good knowledge of all things automotive and happy to work in a retail environment with customers.

Prefer students to be undertaking VETIS in Automotive (but not mandatory)

ATTENDANCE DETAILS:  One day a week or one week blocks.  Available anytime of the year.

TASK & DUTIES:  Students will be working with various automotive spare parts and aftermarket accessories. Duties may include; identifying parts, general warehousing duties, cleaning, stock rotation and marking, working with customers and within a small team.

REQUIREMENTS:  The student must be willing to learn and keen to work in an automotive retail business. The student needs to be well presented with the ability to work with customers. The student is expected to be punctual, have an interest in the automotive industry and be prepared to work well in a team.

SKILLS ATTAINED:  The student will increase their knowledge in identifying automotive spare parts and accessories and must have an interest in working with customers in an automotive retail environment. The student will also have the opportunity to learn workplace communication, safe work practices and how to cooperative effectively in a workplace team.

DRESS REQUIREMENTS:  Neat and tidy clothing is required (school slacks and enclosed school shoes).

FIRST DAY INSTRUCTIONS:  Student needs to arrive early, ask for the manager and be prepared to undertake safety induction

WORK SAFETY NOTES:  Students need to have started the OHS (WHS) unit from their VETiS course of study at a minimum. Students must follow all worksite OHS instructions and wear correct PPE as appropriate
