EMPLOYER DESCRIPTION: This restaurant specialises in Mexican food and boasts not only fresh and healthy ingredients (supplied by local companies) but also a majority of the menu is gluten free. The menu is packed full of fresh and zesty flavours which can be enjoyed with friends and family in this busy venue. This position would be ideal for a student wanting to learn in a busy and vibrant front of house establishment.
Students must currently be enrolled in a VETiS program in Hospitality
ATTENDANCE DETAILS: One day a week (any day) OR one week blocks. Available anytime of the year
TASK & DUTIES: Students will be undertaking a variety of tasks within a busy restaurant setting. Duties may include; interacting with customers, providing table service, front of house customer service, taking customer orders, cleaning service area and tables, handling cash and making coffee.
REQUIREMENTS: Student's must be undertaking a VETiS Hospitality course and wanting experience in front of house operations (food and beverage service). Student MUST list any food allergies they have before commencing in this placement.
SKILLS ATTAINED: The student will gain an understanding of front of house operations, customer service, order taking, learn how to complete table service, cleaning, develop good workplace communication skills and learn how to work well in a team.
DRESS REQUIREMENTS: Neat and tidy dress is required, including closed toe shoes with hair tied back if necessary.
FIRST DAY INSTRUCTIONS: Students needs to arrive early, ask for the manager and be prepared to undertake safety induction.
WORK SAFETY NOTES: Students need to have started the OHS (WHS) unit from their VET in Schools course of study at a minimum. Students must follow all worksite OHS instructions and wear correct PPE as appropriate.
