EMPLOYER DESCRIPTION:  This café prepares their entire menu to offer specific options for specific needs, including vegetarian, gluten free, food intolerances, low carb, heart and diabetes friendly food. They have a busy café setting and also provide corporate and function catering.

Students must currently be enrolled in a VETiS program in Hospitality 

ATTENDANCE DETAILS: One day a week (any day) OR one week block.  Available to host anytime of the year

TASK & DUTIES:  This is ideal for a student interested in kitchen duties mixed with some front of house tasks. It is busy café and will require a student to think on their feet and follow directions quickly and efficiently. Your day will typically be assisting with all aspects of a busy café which may include food preparation, possible barista duties, clearing tables/dishes, some customer service and general kitchen hand work.

REQUIREMENTS:  Students must be willing to learn and keen to work in a hospitality business. You need to be well presented with a neat appearance, be punctual and be prepared to work in a busy café setting.

SKILLS ATTAINED:  Students will gain an understanding of back of house operations with some front of house duties in a busy café setting. Skills will be developed in the service of food preparation, possible barista duties, customer service interactions, cleaning and safe food handling practices, workplace communication skills and working effectively in a team.

DRESS REQUIREMENTS:  Neat and tidy dress, including closed shoes and hair tied back.

FIRST DAY INSTRUCTIONS:  Students needs to arrive early, ask for the manager and be prepared to undertake safety induction. 

WORK SAFETY NOTES:  Students need to have started the OHS (WHS) unit from their VET in Schools course of study at a minimum. Students must follow all worksite OHS instructions and wear correct PPE as appropriate.
