EMPLOYER DESCRIPTION: This engineering company is committed to innovative design and quality manufacturing across a variety of industrial markets including mining, heavy truck, power generation, process cooling, rail and defence. They design and manufacture innovative heat transfer and air movement solutions to a world wide market. This placement will give a student the opportunity to work with the Warehousing team.
Prefer students to be undertaking VETIS in Engineering (but not mandatory)
ATTENDANCE DETAILS: One day a week (any day) OR one week blocks. Available anytime of the year.
TASK & DUTIES: Students will be working with the warehousing teams of this large manufacturing business. The work may include the despatch and receipt of goods, participation in stocktake of materials, shifting of goods and materials within the warehouse and closely following all OH&S regulations.
REQUIREMENTS: The successful student must be able to demonstrate an interest in warehousing in an engineering environment They must have good ICT skills and keen to work in a large manufacturing environment.
SKILLS ATTAINED: Students will be obtaining skills in general warehousing such as general goods handling, warehouse documentation, working within teams and general workplace communication skills.
DRESS REQUIREMENTS: Neat and tidy clothing must be worn. When in the manufacturing area of the business safety boots must be worn along with ear and eye protection.
FIRST DAY INSTRUCTIONS: Student needs to arrive early, ask for the manager and be prepared to undertake safety induction.
WORK SAFETY NOTES: Students need to have started the OHS (WHS) unit from their VET in Schools course of study at a minimum. Students must follow all worksite OHS instructions and wear correct PPE as appropriate.
