EMPLOYER DESCRIPTION: This employer is a not-for-profit organisation that exists to champion and support people with physical, intellectual and multiple disabilities. Their services help more than 6,000 individuals and their families throughout Victoria. These opportunities will allow students to work with their allied health team and learn what they do in a disability organisation such as this.
Students must be undertaking VETiS in Allied Health Assistance
ATTENDANCE DETAILS: One week block – can host multiple students. Available in SECOND WEEK of school holiday period (8-12 July)
TASK & DUTIES: Students will be involved with the on-site allied health practitioners. Duties may include; complying with infection and prevention control policies and procedures, working with diverse people and clients, assisting with client movement, communicating with clients and staff and maintaining a high standard of service and practice.
REQUIREMENTS: Students must be undertaking Cert III in Allied Health Assistance to eligible for these positions.
SKILLS ATTAINED: Students will be undertaking duties that align with their Cert III in Allied Health Assistance VETiS program. Skills may include; complying with infection and prevention control policies and procedures, working with diverse people and clients, assisting with client movement, communicating with clients and staff and participating in WHS practices.
FIRST DAY INSTRUCTIONS: Students needs to arrive early, ask for the manager and be prepared to undertake safety induction
WORK SAFETY NOTES: Students need to have started the OHS (WHS) unit from their VET in Schools course of study at a minimum. Students must follow all worksite OHS instructions and wear correct PPE as appropriate.
