EMPLOYER DESCRIPTION:  This ICT retail store also specialises in repair and servicing of ICT equipment. They are keen to host students who are interested in ICT technician work along with being able to assist in the store front. The store sells a variety of ICT equipment, computer parts, networking equipment along with doing custom builds for customers on request.

Students must be undertaking a VETIS program in an ICT area

ATTENDANCE DETAILS:  One day a week (any day) OR one week blocks.  Available anytime of the year.

TASK & DUTIES:  Students would be assisting in system builds, ICT repair and maintenance, customer service, receiving of electronic goods and general cleaning of the shop front. Duties will be split between back of house IT repairs and general maintenance and shop front duties assisting customers with their enquiries (both in person and on the phone).

REQUIREMENTS:  Students must have a keen interest in ICT and be able to clearly communicate to customers and other team members. Students must be willing and able to do some customer service.

SKILLS ATTAINED: Students would be putting in to action the skills that they are learning within their ICT VETiS program. This may include; system builds, running diagnostic tests, maintaining equipment and software, installing and optimising software, repairing hardware and providing advice to customers.

DRESS REQUIREMENTS:  Students must be neat and tidy and wear covered shoes.

FIRST DAY INSTRUCTIONS:  Student needs to arrive early, ask for the manager, and be prepared to undertake safety induction.

WORK SAFETY NOTES:  Students need to have started the OHS (WHS) unit from their VET in Schools course of study at a minimum. Students must follow all worksite OHS instructions and wear correct PPE as appropriate.
