EMPLOYER DESCRIPTION:  This local ICT company provides a range of services to outside businesses, such as; IT help desk, network administration and ICT management. They do this by providing companies with IT planning, managing the day-to-day IT requirements, providing IT help desk support to staff and back-up systems and security. You would be assisting in the team in all these areas and must be interested in this type of work environment.

Students must be undertaking a VETIS program in an ICT area

ATTENDANCE DETAILS:  One day a week (prefer Tue, Wed or Thur).  Available anytime of the year.

TASK & DUTIES:  Students would be assisting the team in a variety of functions, which may include; computer upgrades and installations, fault finding, responding to repairs and breakdowns, systems monitoring & management, network management, remote monitoring & help-desk functions.

REQUIREMENTS:  Students must have a keen interest in ICT and be able to clearly communicate to clients and other team members.

SKILLS ATTAINED:  Students would be putting in to action the skills that they are learning within their ICT VETiS program. This may include; running diagnostic tests, providing basic system administration, maintaining equipment and software, assisting with network systems, installing and optimising software, repairing hardware and providing advice to the team and clients.

DRESS REQUIREMENTS:  Students must wear neat and tidy business clothes

FIRST DAY INSTRUCTIONS:  Student needs to arrive early, ask for the manager, and be prepared to undertake safety induction.

WORK SAFETY NOTES:  Students need to have started the OHS (WHS) unit from their VET in Schools course of study at a minimum. Students must follow all worksite OHS instructions and wear correct PPE as appropriate.
